It is close to the last day of school. My son came home excited and breathless. He had brought me a present.
“I found this for you Mom!” he said… and he placed in my hand a slightly wilted milkweed leaf. “I found an egg!”
Sure enough, there on the leaf was a tiny monarch egg. He had found it at school during playtime outside, carefully carried it on the ride home, and gave it to me, so we could raise it together.
I think I couldn’t be more proud… What a gift…
…. for both him and me.
The first generation of Minnesota monarch are quickly growing. Counting the eggs my son and I have found together, our brood is growing nicely.
16 more eggs and 1 caterpillar…
Total : 196
