I cut myself on a clove of garlic today…

That’s just how weird and arbitrary life can be sometimes…

It stung with the garlic oil…

The cat thought the whole thing was odd…

But the chili it went into was good…

Now, I sit here with a strange hole in the palm of my hand…

One no band-aid will cover…

And I contemplate…

Would a garlic puncture be a mortal wound to a vampire…?

Life is just weird sometimes…

Or maybe it’s just me…

Max…. was like an axe…
He was sharp on one end and blunt on the other…
When he spoke people gathered to listen…
But he never made any sense, even to his mother…
His words sounded so good…
So clear and succinct…
But when you pulled apart their meaning…
It was like soup splashed in a kitchen sink…
But Max, he was like an axe…
He was sharp and to the point…
He cut his way through his troubles…
Like a butcher severing a joint…
Despite the lack of content…
He always made an impression…
It wasn’t long before…
He found the perfect profession…
Of course, he became a politician…
Winning debates, and the final election…
Once in office, did he accomplished anything…
Not to anyone’s recollection…

Max was good looking… He would have been lovely in the oval office…
(A tale spin improvised story… not a reflection of any real person… really… 🙂

I love monarch butterflies…
Winter in Minnesota makes it hard…
I miss the Summer months where my life is filled with butterflies…
So, how do I get my fix when the icy winds freeze my soul?

I read about them…

.

Here is an interesting and short article about monarchs…
From the TEDBlog…

.

“The other butterfly effect: A youth reporter finds out how monarchs fight their own parasites”

Enjoy….

I can’t even solve my own…

and mindless distraction…
helps bring the stress level down…

Hope your’s has been better….

I lay my head down, nestled into my favorite comfy chair…
The holiday decorations are scattered all around the room…
Plans to hang them up, suspended in my moment of contemplation…
Sparkles of the past, glittering reminders of friends and family…
An ornament made of macaroni and painted gold that I gave to my mother…
A star made of paper mache’ shedding it’s silver glitter, made in Sunday school…
A pinecone with frosted tips, hung by a shred of yarn, made for my Dad…
Paper snow flakes and cinnamon scented snowmen…
Tiny red velvet pillows with “Marry Christmas!” scribbled on them…
Broken wooden candy canes, tinsel angels and stars of tin…
Fragile glass balls with names written in gold, half worn off…
Gingerbread men too tired to run off…
Laminated photos of kittens and childhood faces glued to cut out hands…
I don’t have a tree this year to hang all these memories on…
The box lies open…
The treasure spread across the floor…
Memories ready to hook onto a new holiday… only…
Where to hang them…
New traditions come… New ornaments arrive…
But old memories demand my attention…
If only for a little while…
Eventually I will hang them…
Around the room like a garland…
Herolds of the past…
Adding flavor to the present…
For now… they wait… and I watch…
As they twinkle at me from across the room…
Then I close my eyes…
And travel back to a time of glitter and macaroni…

Every year the box gets bigger… I can never throw anything away…

The freeze came early this year…
I shiver to myself as the frost spreads across the window…
Digging through the bottom dresser draw for lost wool socks…
I wonder if my toes will ever feel warm again…
Buried beneath my Grandmother rough knitted afghan…
I steep my nose in the rising steam from a mug of orange tea…
Still snacking on the left-over pies from Thanksgiving…
My brain and body want nothing more than to curl up…
and hibernate till Spring…
January has come in December…
Here’s hoping March arrives early too…

Thanks a lot “Arctic Wind”…
Stay warm out there…
Unless you live where it’s warm…
In that case… send some of that heat to me!

In the spirit of Seriously Silly Sunday… tonight I shall be taking the stage with my fellow improvisers with attitude to fight the evil Rita Repulsa and save the day… as The Mighty Morphin Improv Rangers!

I have to say it’s a challenge to be a positive as those teenaged Power Rangers are… Fighting Putty Patrollers is exhausting at my age…. but with the help of Zordon, my Zord and my fellow rangers you can be sure by the end of the night we will have saved the Earth yet again… and maybe even made you smile.

Come to HUGE Improv Theater tonight, doors open at 7:30.  One tickets gets you in to see five improvised shows from five different groups all tonight at Improv-A-Go-Go…..
