Mother’s vase is broken
Pieces shattered on the floor
A mosaic so confusing, a cosmos expanding
Her sharp edged words like stars exploding
Push me, pull me, drag me towards the door

Mother’s vase is broken
Hurled in anger against the wall
Her ashes like sand scattered on the beach
Dust mites in the air, a slap against my cheek
Struck from a hand hard, stern, tall

Mother’s vase is broken
I kneel, shards cutting deep into my knees
My blood, her blood, red as the skin of an apple
Mix with tears and years lost in a funeral chapel
Filled with volcanic hymns hiding cries and pleas

Mother’s vase is broken
I cannot clean up these pieces of her life
I cannot say “I’m sorry”, there’s no return from dead
She left, my heart cleaved, like a risen loaf of bread
Sliced through with her favorite kitchen knife

Mother’s vase is broken
Do not dare to ask me why
The earth is born of cracking rocks and flame
Ice and fire, eons of guilt and blame, my shame
Keeps me here, unable to say “Goodbye”

When she came, I was nothing but a smear upon the floor..

Her mission was to rescue me, her goal, was to restore..

All that I used to be, all that had been before…
.

But I did not deserve her attention or her special love..

I was an empty void of everything, a discarded workman’s glove..

I was a pointless, worthless mess and she.. an angel from above…
.

Like a lovely, fragrant Springtime breeze, she swept across my universe..

All the sins I’d played, mistakes I’d made.. she put them in reverse..

With the simple touch of her enchanted hand, she lifted off my curse…
.

I was reborn, I was a human being, with muscle meld to bone..

My heart began to beat once more with a rhythm all its own..

With her sweet breath she filled my lungs, till death was overthrown…
.

“Mother Earth” I whispered.. “Why bother to rescue such a man?”

She simply smiled, and thought a while, then reached out with her hand..

“There is no one, there is only all.. survive together.. that is my one command.”
.

“Live with and love all creatures, take nothing more than you might need..

Do not destroy my web of life.. from ignorance.. fear.. or greed..

From the Earth you come, and to me you will return.. listen.. and succeed…”
.

When she left me, I was nothing like I had ever been before..

Her mission was to rescue us, her goal.. to help us soar..

All that humanity used to be.. reborn.. connected.. forevermore…

I was her final prize…
She took me with no doubt…
Her eyes left a lingering trail…
Up one side, down and inside out…
In a single moment she saw…
every secret, every flaw…
In that fatal instant…
She had me.. all…

.

“I won’t tell.” she whispered…
“Your secrets now are mine.
I will keep them here between my teeth
until the end of time.”
Then she kissed me…
Our souls they did combine…
“Now.. You are really mine.”

.

I watched as she closed her eyes…
She soon grew grey and cold…
I reached out to her lovely face…
Never had I been so bold…
Her lips with my fingertip traced…
As her flesh did turn to stone…
Now, more than my deepest secrets…
she did forever own…

.

I knew her from all sides now…
from her stony gaze I could not hide…
A fearful prison she had built…
My heart trapped deep inside…
Behind her lips…
trapped in her grip…
my secrets and fear collide…
I am now an empty shell…
yearning.. terrified…

.

“I won’t tell.” she whispered…
“Your secrets are all mine.”
Her voice echoed in my head…
carving me sublime…
Between my teeth…
I bit my tongue…
But no blood could I feel…
Her stony gaze infected mine…
I was no longer real…

.

Now, I turn and look at you…
There is nothing I will miss…
It’s all here between my teeth…
Let me fill you with my kiss…
“I won’t tell” I’ll whisper…
As I close my steely grip…
For secrets are the lure…
and fear my cutting whip…

.

My gaze will infect your eyes…
as your secrets fill my grave…
Emptiness will soon devour…
and others you will crave…
In my need I’ve stolen yours…
with my love I’ve lied…
I used to have a human heart…
where fear and secrets hide…

I dreamed of you last night

We danced beneath the moonlit sky

Our feet intertwined

magic

smooth staccato

You Astaire

and

me sweet Audrey

Music in motion we drifted

A raft on the dark water of night time

Heartbeats our only rhythm

hip on hip

-glide-

a soft breeze

The teasing wisp of hair

gently brushed aside by your lover’s hand

Falling for the depths of your eyes

The touch of your lips

caress

.

I dreamed of you last night

I dreamed

of

love

.

I dreamed of you last night

my hand

in

your hand

When the sun came to shine

I awoke

warm

content

ready to dance again

I turned my head

placed my hand on your empty pillow

How much I miss you love

How much I miss

you

.

I dreamed of you last night

and tonight

when I close my eyes

I will await your lover’s kiss

and when life is done with me

we will dance again

hip on hip

smooth staccato

magic

They buried me on the beach…

Sand in my mouth and in my eyes…

There they left me, as if dead…

Believing their own lies…

.

I tasted death and threw it up…

With silent strangled cries…

Inhaling life, and air, and a swig of evening tide…

Gasping my last, I came to realize…

That life is worth fighting for…

And I tried to philosophize…

.

How sweet to smell the salty air…

To dream of cloud filled skies…

To claw my way back out…

Though I could not break my ties…

.

Half afloat in the rocking waves…

The stars did fade, the sun to rise…

My tongue tied with salt and sand…

The wind my only cries…

.

They buried me on the beach…

But they won’t eulogize…

For as the night crawled away…

Death came to compromise…

I gave up my body…

To the crabs and for the flies…

.

And now I walk the Earth again…

Preparing a sweet surprise…

For you can not kill a spirit…

But you can feel the burning of it’s eyes…

Released from pain…

Mother is calling me home…

Death welcomes new life…

.

No fear comes within…

Her embrace holds sweet promise…

Reborn in her love…

.

.

Within the never ending loop of life and death… there can be beautiful peace…
