She was a crafty creature
Shy and full of quick wit
I watched her across the meadow
Wishing I could be like her just a bit
Beautiful red hair and shiny bright eyes
She danced through the grass graceful and swift
I watched as she hunted her prey unaware
Then she stopped, held still, her whiskers sunlit
In a flash she leaped high up in the air
and for moment seemed suspended up there
Then down with a thump she landed so quick
And her lunch she gobbled up with a nip and a snick

Water and waves…
Blues… Greens…
Chicory and hickory bark…
One step forward and one step back
Dropping petals from my hand
Found a penny hidden in the sand
One step forward, one step back
Lost that penny…
Still…
Buried treasure in the sand
Blues and greens
The river flows, it never stops
My thoughts travel with it…
Flowers in a toy boat
Ripples traveling outward
A row boat
Tickling my mind
Pirates…
Desperados…
Tiny crickets in tuxedos…
Everything… and nothing at all
Singing of water and waves
Petals dropping from my hand
Blues…
Greens…
Lost in the sand
Still…

Upon my Mother’s face I dance…

Her eyes the green of early Spring…

She gave me life and told me lies…

And taught me how the fairies sing…

I love monarch butterflies…
Winter in Minnesota makes it hard…
I miss the Summer months where my life is filled with butterflies…
So, how do I get my fix when the icy winds freeze my soul?

I read about them…

.

Here is an interesting and short article about monarchs…
From the TEDBlog…

.

“The other butterfly effect: A youth reporter finds out how monarchs fight their own parasites”

.

Enjoy….

I remember Summer…

She came and visited for a while…

Hot and full of hunger…

She burned me with her smile…

I still feel the warmth of her breath…

And the heat where her fingers lingered awhile…

She made the flowers bloom and then they withered…

Dried up and left in a pile…

But I miss her now…

I miss her hazy heated style…

For Winter has come to take her place…

Erasing every heated trace under mile after icy mile…

The soft mist rolled off into the darkness…

Leaving a trail of tiny dew drops…

A flower, shaded and closed…

Took a breath…

And opened…

Bending to the morning sun…

Unfurling color to invite the eye…

And tease the soul with its transient glory…

October’s project is one of opportunity…
When I have the opportunity… I will express a bit of nonsense… and post it here…
no pressure… no pain… no puns…

Okay… there may be a few puns… I’m only human…

A moment at the edge…

captured…

then released…

Let go…

tumbling down…

shattering…

divided…

multiple tiny fragments…

a thousand reflections…

miniature duplicates…

all individual…

all moments…

caught…

on the edge…

We are all caught in moments… until we are let go…
